Referees

CATS FC is a club that participates in both the Grand Valley Soccer Association (GVSA) and the Michigan State Premier Soccer Program (MSPSP). Both GVSA and MSPSP follow the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) “Laws of the Game.”

If you are interested in becoming a referee the place to start is the Michigan Referee website http://www.michiganreferee.org This website provides guidance of where and when to take the entry level classes.

After successful completion of the class you will need to:

1. Join an organization that can provide you additional training and representation.

See the website http://www.gvsoa.org/index.html or http://www.wmsoa.org

2. Contact the Referee Assignor(s) of the club(s) for which you are interested in refereeing. The list of Assignors can be found at http://www.michiganreferee.org/assignors.html

3. Purchase a uniform. Minimum two shirts (Yellow and Red), black shorts and black socks. More shirts, flags and accessories can be purchased depending upon your budget. Sporting goods stores and the internet are good places to shop.

Assignors within GVSA use an internet based scheduling system called “Game Officials .net”. You need to register https://michiganrefs.gameofficials.net/public/default.cfm with this website to indicate your schedule of availability to accept game assignments.

The Referee Assignor for CATS FC is Jack Wolf. If you are interested in refereeing for the club send an email to Jack Wolf . Please include your age, USSF# and referee grade. The Assignor will then contact you to ensure you that you have been placed within the referee pool of candidates for possible game assignments.
